The CUSW GDR Unit & Education and Training and Trust Fund are dedicated to supporting our members and furthering their skills. We are pleased to offer a comprehensive Corning Fiber Optic Installation training (CFI).

This three-day hands-on course prepares students for all aspects of fiber optic cable installation in a local area network environment. Both multimode and single-mode fiber types are covered. Cable placement, fusion and mechanical splicing, cable termination (connector installation and pigtail splicing), and acceptance testing are taught with extensive hands-on practice.

Students will build, test, and troubleshoot complete single-mode and multimode systems in this class. Also covered is the use of equipment, hardware, and procedures pertaining to building distribution and campus applications.

This training will be held this coming July 7-9th, 2026 and hosted in Bowmanville.
