CUSW Observes National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30
This day holds deep significance for all members of CUSW.
We are proud of the meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships we share with Indigenous peoples, including the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit. Our partnerships with Indigenous Skills, Employment and Training Stategy Holders (ISETS), The Aboriginal Skilled Workers Association (ASWA) and Indigenous Skills Employment Apprenticeship and Development (formerly AABO Aboriginal Apprenticeship Board of Ontario) are central to this work. Through our CUSW Saskatchewan Unit, we work closely with ASWA to ensure families are supported in building healthy communities and respected workplaces—not only in Saskatchewan, but across Canada.
In our ever-changing world, one thing remains the same and that is our commitment to the Indigenous Peoples, the First Nations, the Métis, and Inuit, as we are committed to our promise of Truth and Reconciliation. Education and workplace inclusion is a true priority. CUSW is very instrumental in working closely with ISETS, ASWA, and AABO by leading the way developing beneficial, long-lasting relationships. We are proud of our successes with Indigenous Employers, Indigenous Organizations and Trade Schools. Inclusive of our Indigenous members, we strive to upgrade the knowledge and education for all Members whether new, or existing. We promote Indigenous content in our skilled workforce with new and existing employment agreements that include commitments for Indigenous content.
Please join CUSW on this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation to continue the long journey towards learning, understanding, and committing to a meaningful Reconciliation. Help everyone, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous, move forward together to ensure we all have access to a better life.
If you’re wondering about the different ways to reconcile, for one, consider wearing an orange shirt on this day, and learn about the reason for wearing it www.orangeshirtday.org.
