Team CUSW is Fundraising for 2026 Gran Fondo Lake Huron

I, Michelle Holmes, would like to share something that happened to us this past weekend that reinforced for us why we do this fundraising.

July 18, 2026 Mike and I were at home. He was outside putting chairs away into our shed in the backyard. He was stung by a yellow-jacket wasp. He came inside to show me where he was stung. Shortly after that, he went into anaphylactic shock and passed out. I called 911 and gave him a shot of epinephrine. The Emergency responders, Fire Fighters, and the Doctors and Nurses at Bright Shores Health Centre in Southampton saved his life. After 16 hours in the ICU Mike was released from the hospital, and he is now back to his normal self. 

Participating in this event means even more to us now than it did the past two years we participated. Please help CUSW have the best turn out and support of this cause yet!

Team CUSW is excited to participate in the 2026 Gran Fondo Lake Huron, cycling with heart and determination. Every kilometre we ride helps support the Bright shores Health System – Saugeen Shores Hospital Foundation, funding vital equipment, advanced technology, and compassionate patient care for our community.
