Roundtable - CUSW
In the beginning there were no bargaining rights and no collective agreements.
WE have become a community of families, workers, employers and other partners, working to ensure a stable, prosperous, healthy and democratic future for ourselves, our neighbours and for future generations.
It is time for us to come together for OUR 4th Participation Roundtable series to share our ideas, insights and feedback to further strengthen OUR union.
You, your family and likeminded people in your workplace and community are invited to join us for some great food, engaging discussions.

BACKGROUND
In the beginning there were no bargaining rights and no collective agreements. These members started CUSW with nothing more than a vision of building a union that put Members and their families first. The founding Constitution opened the opportunity for hundreds of members to connect in kitchens, basements and even over tailgates to join together to support each other, their families and the larger community. Within a short-time the community grew significantly and together they chose to apply to the Ontario Labour Relations Board for the bargaining rights to represent 380 electrical workers at Ontario Hydro. The rest is History.
20 years later we have more than 4,000 members inside and outside the trades and in an increasing number of sectors. Our membership is very active and is still that coming together and building the future by putting Members and their families first. Since the beginning of CUSW, WE the members have formed the building blocks of the union. We have a Constitution that leads the way in setting standards for our members and society as a whole. We now have benefit plans, retirement programs, social activities and community events all built by members for members. We have our own education and training Trust Funds focused on providing the members with access to information about the way that we operate our internal affairs and how we participate in the community around us.
