CUSW/PWU JOINT DISPATCH

CUSW with the Power Workers Union has created the The Joint Dispatch. This system is more than just a place from which those seeking work are joined up with employers offering work. It is a place job opportunities are fairly and justly distributed, according to principles of equality and fairness in a process free of nepotism, prejudice or favoritism. The Joint Dispatch functions in an open and accountable manner to fill positions according to criteria and categories set forth in the collective agreements.

The dispatch system benefits employers by providing access to a geographically diverse membership to fill vacancies in remote and far flung locations. Through the dispatch, a vacancy in Sarnia can draw upon a labour pool residing in Halifax, Toronto or Vancouver. Skills can be easily matched to requirement. The Joint Dispatch works not only with employers, it also co-operatively acts with the hiring halls of other trade unions, such as LIUNA (Laborers International Union of North America) to fulfill the need for supplying skilled trades people wherever demand is located.
